Members get priority bookings and discounts on some classes and opportunities for free events. See our Activities Programme of current classes.
The Wash House Cafe discounts: Members can buy tea, coffee or hot cocoa for just 50p per cup. Members aged 60+ also get £1 off main courses over £4 in the cafe.

Volunteer

Give some of your time to a good cause whilst gaining new skills and meeting new people. Volunteering is for all ages (17+) and abilities whether you're a student, working or retired. We offer work experience placements for schoolchildren, internships for graduates and Corporate Social Responsibility days for organisations, There are a number of volunteering opportunities depending on your interests and abilities, for example:

  • Admin support
  • Befriending and supporting older people
  • Helping with community centre activities, outings and events
  • Painting and decorating
  • Project management and fundraising
  • Youth projects

Since 1948, our vibrant community centre has been bringing people together in the heart of Westminster with cultural, social, educational and recreational activities ranging from Tai Chi, weekly lectures, yoga to language courses to ballroom dancing. There’s something for everyone, from older people to toddlers and everyone in between. Our inclusive centre is a space that welcomes lifelong Westminster residents and those who've recently arrived in the area. Members hail from a range of cultures: English, Scottish, Welsh, Spanish, Portuguese, Bangladeshi, African, Arab, Bosnian, Herzegovinian, Chinese, Russian and more. The Abbey Centre celebrates this diversity – and helps bring everyone together.
