What We Offer

"A little community in the heart of London"

Everyone that comes to the Abbey Centre does so for different reasons. What makes it so special is the important contribution it makes to the community and its members. Each of our projects reflects this dynamic and multi-cultural community in a unique way.

Something for everyone

Over the past few years, we have developed many new programmes to meet local people's needs. Our community team offer specific individual help to find the right activity and appropriate social support.

Each week we offer over 35 classes, groups and clubs as well as over 100 one-off annual activities for people with varied interests and needs. Community groups can rent space at a special rate. We can also direct to specialist services including funding or benefits advice.

Older people

The Centre promotes opportunities to stay active and healthy, meet new friends and really improve your quality of life. Come for a chat and a cup of tea or take part in the broad spectrum of dedicated activities designed specially for you. Activities include the Monday Club, learning how to sew, playing bingo, the walking club, bowls and Tai Chi. Look out for seasonal outings and events organised on a regular basis.

Children and young adults

We offer ‘Music and Movement’ for toddlers and their parents as well as after school clubs.

Women

We offer a variety of fitness for women, including women-only Pilates classes.

Mobility or disability

The Abbey Centre prides itself on being the only fully accessible community venue for disabled users in South Westminster.

The Centre hosts three local groups specifically for people with disabilities, GLAD (Greater London Action on Disability) and PHAB (Physically Handicapped Able Bodied) who meet every other Monday evening. PIP (Pursuing Independent Paths) SW1 work with local residents with learning difficulties.
