Platinum Jubilee Tea Party

20 August 2022

We had a wonderful time at our special Platinum Jubilee Tea Party in August!

We’ve been looking forward to this event for quite some time since it was planned as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, but unfortunately we were forced to postpone. So it was exciting to finally see our hall full of happy people celebrating the Queen’s amazing 70-year reign.

As usual, we danced the afternoon away to the sounds of our resident DJ Supa Sarah. And as a special Jubilee event, in honour of the Queen, we held a competition to see who could bring the best hat. We invited a very special guest to judge the competition, The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Hamza Taouzzale. It was a great honour to receive a visit from the Lord Mayor, who is the youngest ever to hold the post, and also our first Lord Mayor from a Black, Asian or Multiple Ethnic background.

We want to say a huge thank you to the amazing volunteers who supported the Jubilee Tea Party, including a team from Bouygues, and our newest corporate partners Ambassadeurs Group.

We asked our guests to tell us the best thing about the event, and most of them said “Everything!” Others said their favourite part was “enjoying the company of others” or that they were “able to let themselves go a little”. They also expressed their appreciation for our “very helpful” volunteers and our “very kind and very organised” project coordinator Caz.

In the pictures below, you can see (clockwise from top-left) the hat competition finalists, the runners up, our volunteer team with the Lord Mayor, and the project coordinator Caz enjoying a dance with some of our guests. You can click the images to see larger versions.
