Home Office staff raise money for the Abbey Centre

10 May 2021

A team in the Home Office has decided to set themselves a challenge and raise some money for charity during lockdown.

One of the team told us: “After numerous charities being put forward, we chose the Abbey Centre. A number of Home Office staff volunteer at the Abbey Centre and have first-hand experience of the incredible work you do in the local community.”

“Having set ourselves a target of walking, running or cycling the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats, we very quickly passed that milestone so extended the challenge to cover the distance from London to New York. Who knew we were such an active team?! We reached our New York target after four weeks and later extended it to cover the distance between London and Tokyo!”

Altogether, they have raised almost £550 and we are very grateful for their support and impressive effort at a time when we were missing much of our regular income from conference and meeting room hire and our Wash House Cafe.

You can support our vital and much-needed community work too by visiting the Abbey Centre’s JustGiving page.
