For this year’s Silver Sunday, we took our service users for a traditional meal of pie and mash. Silver Sunday began in Westminster and is now the national day for older people.
We went on a boat down to Greenwich, past Tower Bridge, the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum. We stopped for lunch at Goddards, a family-run shop which has been serving pie and mash for over a hundred years.
All went very smoothly on the trip and we had a great day out.
Participants on the trip told us, “It’s been amazing” and “The pie shop was wonderful”. One happy attendee added, “It’s my first time having Pie and Mash, I cannot wait to have it again.”
We run a wide range of activities throughout the year, both for over 50s and and everyone in our community. See all our activities.
